If you haven't ever covered the ING New York City Marathon Health & Fitness Expo, this might be the year to make the trek to Jacob Javits Center. Marathon partners are activating in new and unique ways. Think you have the fastest fingers? Test your text messaging skills at T-Mobile's Thumbathon. Want to meet actor Anthony Edwards? Visit the Runner's World booth during his guest appearance. Runners can cross the finish line at BP's Invigoration Station and relax at the ING Runner's Nation Lounge.

ING New York City Marathon Health & Fitness Expo
Jacob Javits Convention Center (11th Avenue at West 35th Street)
Thursday-Friday, October 29-30, 10:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.
Saturday, October 31, 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

  • ASICS is inviting runners to create “Inspiration Super Signs” at their booth. Runners can also sign up to have their names displayed on a WABC Super Sign in Times Square. They will have athlete appearances from Olympians Ryan Hall and Deena Kastor.
  • Andalucia Sweepstakes is offering participants a chance to win a trip for two to the Seville Marathon.
  • BP Invigoration Station will give runners the chance to have their photo taken crossing a finish line. They can also sign up for the BP “Younger for Longer Challenge” sweepstakes for a chance to win $10,000 in BP gasoline.
  • The ING Runner's Nation Lounge will be rich with resources for runners. People can take part in the fun, including a video course tour, pace bands, and guest speakers. 
  • The Gatorade booth will give runners the opportunity to sign up for a chance to win an entry into one of the five 2010 Gatorade-sponsored races including Big Sur International Marathon, Cincinnati Flying Pig Marathon, Little Rock Marathon, Publix Super Markets Gasparilla Distance Classic and the sold-out Chevron Houston Marathon.
  • Poland Spring will offer runners a special place to rest and get off their feet with a park area that includes benches made with recycled material.
  • The Runner's World booth will feature appearances from a number of experts, including: Executive Editor Mark Remy, who will be signing copies of The Runner's Rule Book: Everything a Runner Needs to Know—and Then Some; Chief Running Officer Bart Yasso, who will be signing copies of My Life on the Run; “Marathon Woman” Kathrine Switzer; actor Anthony Edwards; and much more.
  • The New York Times will be pre-selling the very popular Monday Results Section with finisher times under 4 ½ hours.
  • Tiffany & Co will be displaying and selling their beautiful silver and crystal co-branded merchandise. Many pieces can be engraved at a later date with finisher time, name, and date.
  • Toyota’s Engines of Change Zone will provide an array of different opportunities and sweepstakes for people to see and learn about the 2010 Prius and Highlander. Offers will include: computers to register Pick The Champions; Seed Packet Challenge in which participants can get stamps for exploring the car to win a prize; Tree of Change in which participants can fill out a card telling why they run/support athletes; and much more.
  • T-Mobile will conduct ING New York City Marathon Thumbathons—text messaging challenges to see who has the fastest fingers.  At the expo booth, their cheer zone on the Marathon course (96th St. and 1st Ave) and at the ING New York City Marathon Post Race Party presented by Clear Channel, T-Mobile will be conducting Thumbathons to find the fastest texters at the ING NYC.  Fastest texters will be eligible to win a new Blackberry Bold, available exclusively at T-Mobile. All participants will receive a branded hat just for participating.
